cherry blossom girl.

I listed some new blogs I've been visiting under "Other Bloggers
!" and one of them is The Cherry Blossom Girl. I'm not quite sure who this girl is and what her blog about, but I do know that she lives in Paris, wears amazing clothes, and has time to prance around the city and take some pretty fabulous pictures! Here is a taste but take a peek and click around her blog here!

thrifting finds.
While on Spring Break at home, one of my most important objectives was thrifting of course! I headed to Uehling and Omaha and here are some of my finds..A set of wonderful dishes from Kearney, NE a whole set all for $26, a new floral high waisted skirt ($9) and a wonderful vintage pink hairdryer ($15) and a cute set of glasses ($4), "HoneyBunch: Her First Visit to the City" book (ahh..I totally want to read this!) and a cute tin for some earring or notions!

small town modern.

Sorry it has been a while since sharing! It is finals time here in Savannah and I have been sleeping little and working tons...This is a print I designed based on the Midwest culture I live in Nebraska. I wanted to reference the contemporary trends seen at Urban Outfitters and Ikea while commenting on life in Nebraska and my Swedish heritage. I am printing this at a very large scale and picture it being used for interiors or upholstery. It is also an ode to our pet goose of late, Quackers Blanc (seen amidst corn and flowers). We miss you..although not really because you were mean to me...

sarah jane.

I stumbled across these wonderful prints on Etsy. I love the playfulness of these images and the nostalgic way in which they are drawn. I have a feeling that once I get into my apartment, I will be more and more tempted to buy prints like these until my walls are full to the brim! Look at more of Sarah Jane's wonderful illustrations here!

the up-do tote.
To carry around all your needs for the perfect up-do! I just submitted this into the Amy Butler Sew Inspiring Contest where you had to design a bag inspired by Amy in some way or another. I was thinking of the things that always seem to be randomly floating around in my suitcase and my hairdryer and straightener are always the ones! This bag will keep them snug and organized on your weekend getaways and they'll be ready to hang up in the powder room when you arrive!

revamping an old tradition.

For part of my portfolio work, I am creating this series of dishtowels give a new spin to the vintage Days of the Week embroidery patterns. Instead of ironing and baking pies, our modern girl is seen blogging on Mondays, working out on Tuesdays, crafting on Wednesdays...and more! They will be hand screen printed on old flour sack dishtowels with hand embroidered details. So here is your little sneak peek! Hope you like them!

treasures from bella dia.

Bella Dia was one of the first blogs I happened upon and I still like to pop in and see whats new. I have always been a huge fan of her little houses made of felt and the most precious detailed embroidery. These mushroom huts are the newest addition..see more detailed pictures and the rest of her little houses here!

making dresses and such.
The rest of the afternoon was spent at the fashion building, draping more dresses for my portfolio...Rascal Flatts kept me going. I wore a great new 1958 calendar apron I got over break which was wonderful for holding my pencils and scissors. My pin holder pictured above was a Nifty Thirtfy buy. Not bad for $2...
going, going, gone.
I enjoyed a lovely lunch at my favorite, Back in the Day bakery with Emily and Paige. Among my indulgences were a chicken curry sandwich and this exquisite Cali- Vanilla cupcake.

fall 2008.

I have been scouring Style.com looking at the yummy new Fall things..One of my favorites was Michael Kors (top three) because of the fifties references in silhouettes and I love the glasses they are wearing. The bottom two were from Tracy Reese..great combination of materials and color. I am seeing TONS of elaborate and elegant hats and loving it, so pull 'em out! Also, lots of beautiful mustard yellows and greens and deep purples..

style me pretty.

With weddings on the mind this weekend, I wanted to hilight Style Me Pretty, a site soon-to-wed Katie and Ashlea and many others brought to my attention. It is a treasure trove of images and ideas. You know I love a good mood board, and Abby has tons of beautiful ones posted from brides that tell stories of color and whimsy. Above are two of my favorites..I love the yellow cardigan over the dress mixed with the merlot and lime, and the different patterned groomsmen socks?? How much better can it get?
